Wedding Venues

Great Wedding venues around Cornwall

Whether you live here or are thinking of having a visit to Cornwall for your wedding or civil partnership ceremony then you are very much spoilt for choice. There are literally hundreds of amazing venues around Cornwall and the great thing is wherever you decide to have it in Cornwall you're never far from the sea. I'm going to make this post about a few of the ones that I know a bit about, and the venues I hear have been great for past bride and grooms and for wedding parties. These venues below are all venues I'm happy to photograph at but that's a given really as they are all situated in Cornwall. The majority of these great venues will provide a place to hold your wedding as well as your reception and even have rooms for all your guests.

Cornish Camels The lizard

I have had a friend, a fellow wedding photographer in fact who recently had his own wedding at Cornish camels and he doesn't stop raving about it so should definitely be one to look up if you're thinking of having your event near The Lizard and Mullion. They actually have three licensed venues onsite, the corn chamber, the wagon house and the camel centre. Another venue which is of course welcoming to civil partnership ceremonies and wedding receptions alike. For more information follow the link below.

Polurrian Bay Hotel Mullion

The Polurrian Bay Hotel is a lovely wedding venue and I have actually had the pleasure of working there about two years ago as a receptionist so I know all the ins and outs of the hotel. They have conjoined rooms for the families as well as an amazing panoramic sun lounge with a fireplace for winters. It's all been re-built quite recently and every guest I looked after seemed to have been going for many years. It also boasts its own private beach which would be perfect for photographs by the sea and this is owned by the hotel but open to the public, though I find even during the summer doesn't tend to be that busy because of its hidden nature. They also have a service of buying out the hotel exclusively which could be great if you have quite a large wedding party or if you have come down from up country.

St Michaels Falmouth

A beach side hotel near Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth St Michaels Hotel and Spa is a great venue, I actually lived just down the road from it whilst I was attending uni at Falmouth. Its therapy sessions and relaxing spa can be a great way to unwind before or after your wedding and again they are welcoming for civil partnership ceremonies and are fully licensed for both them and weddings. They also have a double bath in their honeymoon suite which is such an added extra that I know I wouldn't overlook. They also have vintage afternoon champagne teas as well as a six course extravaganza their words not mine. Again a very good looking venue and there is plenty of other hotels along that side of Falmouth if your wedding party is particularly massive. They can host up to 80 guests so if you do happen to have a particularly big wedding party you may have to look for one of the other venues I have mentioned.

The Greenbank Hotel Falmouth

The greenbank hotel in Falmouth is a great venue and right on the river Fal as well. If your wanting a little bit of a quirky wedding which includes going on a boat or even one just next to the ocean air then this may be the venue for you. They have a clean and contemporary style and will happily take on what your asking. I have stayed there a few years ago and it was lovely then but I think they have updated it a bit since and has become a lovely wedding venue in Falmouth, Cornwall. They are also welcoming for civil partnership ceremonies and they can guide you through everything they have to offer for such an event.

Tregenna Castle St Ives

Tregenna have actually won the Cornish brides award 2015 for the best wedding venue in Cornwall so an obvious choice and such a lovely venue with views down on St Ives. They have a pretty nifty 360 degree view on their website and also offer hair and beauty with some of their packages by Sara Veal and Verity. They are licensed for wedding ceremonies as well as civil partnerships and have absolutely stunning grounds, bedrooms and reception rooms. I've been to a few wedding fayre's there and there is so much to Tregenna castle as well as a lot of locations for great photographs as I noticed whilst there.

Carbis Bay Hotel

You can see a previous blog post of mine of a wedding I photographed there Here. Carbis Bay is a lovely venue with a gorgeous conservatory as well as a beach hut cafe which has recently had an overhaul making it a great feature of the venue. They also have the reception room which is plenty big enough for well over one hundred guests. When I went there the couple managed to fit in all sort of entertainment as well as there being christmas trees everywhere for the festive season. Carbis Bay is upon entry to St Ives so if you were to plan a church wedding in St Ives its only a stone throw away from the hotel really as well as being less busy especially in summer. There beach also very much lends itself to amazing photographs and is quite well sheltered so tends to be less windy than in St Ives itself.
